It's Orange Shirt Day at GS! -General Stewart Student Designed Shirts

In 2015, the Orange Shirt Society was formed to create awareness of the

individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of

Indian Residential Schools with the purpose of supporting

Indian Residential School Reconciliation and promoting the truth that

                                                  EVERY CHILD MATTERS.

This design was created by Indigenous students from General Stewart last year

with the support of our Elementary Indigenous Education Teacher, Melanie Morrow.

Students selected key components to add to the design which all represent

traditional elements of Indigenous life.
